Beta versions should be production ready but may not have all the features or a final user interface.
Rhino 4.0 users are encouraged to download and try this Beta release of the production quality renderer - Brazil r/s 2.0 for Rhino.
Notes on new Brazil website: We have moved much of the Brazil documentation discussion and beta downloads to the http://brazil.mcneel.com website. This is a new centralized place for everything to do with Brazil for Rhino and includes blogs from the development team, discussion forums with nntp support, galleries, tutorials and so on. You will need to apply for a user name and password the first time you access the site.
New Features: Planar and Reflective environment overrides. Better memory usage, Paste/Paste as instance.
Rhino versions supported: Brazil requires a Rhino 4.0 CD key on the download page. Beta testing Brazil r/s is limited to Rhino 4.0 users, and Brazil on Rhino 3.0 is no longer supported. Rhino 4.0 Service Release 3 or later is required to install Brazil and can be downloaded from http://www.rhino3d.com/download.htm
Notes: This is the current Beta release of Brazil r/s 2.0 for Rhino. The product is substantially complete and includes some documentation. Beta Cycle: Beta releases of Brazil will appear approximately every 2 weeks. Please note that you do not need to download the RDK separately for Brazil everything that is required is included in the installer.
Known Issues: Due to a problem in the first release of V-Ray for Rhino 4.0, there is a known incompatibility between V-Ray and this release of Brazil. If you are using VRay on Rhino 4.0, please make sure that you clarify the situation with ASGVIS before installing this beta version of Brazil. If you are unsure what to do and are using V-Ray for Rhino, please do not download and install Brazil Beta. A version of V-Ray that fixes this problem should be released very soon.

Features:
- Paste and Paste As Instance implemented in thumbnail editor and tree pane.
- Content notes section added for user-defined comments.
- Added context menu to change content button.
- Added frame buffer channel section to Brazil system options - most channels are now off by default,
so improved memory footprint.
- Implemented "Use viewport target" in Depth of Field options.
- The sun dock bar is not displayed if the sun is not supported by the current render plug-in.
- Global reflective map and planar background implemented.
- Brazil Advanced Environment now has reflective and planar background overrides
- Angular Blend material now supports photon blending.
- Basic Texture now defaults to bi-linear filtering in Brazil renderings.
Bug Fixes:
- Basic material crashed Brazil when an analytic bump or normal map node was added to the bump channel.
- Pictureframe objects did not render in Brazil.
- Skylight texture override was not functional (since Beta 11).
- Check boxes next to subnode controls were not consistently on by default.
- Crash when adding a subnode to a material fixed.
- Fixed GI artifacts with Toon.

怎么说呢，巴西这点上也许真的应该反省一下，测试版两周就过期了，大方点让大家用用也好呀，一方面可以找BUG，另一方面是可以培养用户群和市场推广。我想现在用vray for rhino的用户远远多于brazil for rhino的用户吧。
但是，反过来说Brazil这样做也无可厚非（又或许是McNeel要求他这样做），试想，Brazil for Rhino用户必然是购买了Rhino的呀，所以要求使用SN下载也是可以理解的。只是我们国内D版用舒服了，觉得免费用人家的东西很理所当然。
